Abby Talk

As we were driving along, Abby was gabbing to me from the backseat: "When I get bigger and become a mommy and get married, maybe then I can drive all by myself and I won't have to sit in a car seat anymore!" Yes, the order is all out of whack. :o)

Abby was looking through the drawer for something for her hair when she noticed a couple of very small barrettes we'd used for her when she was just a baby. She said, "Mommy! Are these BABY barrettes?!" When I answered in the affirmative, she excitedly replied, "Now we can have a baby sister!" Hmmm, if getting a girl were only that simple.

Abby: "Mommy, I want some friends to play with."
Me: "Oh, you want me to invite some friends over so you can play with them?"
Abby: "Yeah, I want some friends to come over....or at least Grandma."
Me: "What about Benny? He can be your friend."
Abby: "Well, he's not a very nice friend."

We'd had discussions before about belly buttons and umbilical cords, but one day, completely out of the blue, Abby asked me, "Mommy, is the cord still plugged into the baby?"

Abby and I were lying on the couch together, feeling icky from our sinus infections. I sniffed my nose and Abby quickly held out her arm and said, "Here, Mommy, you can use my sleeve!"
