We had a fun birthday party for Abby with all the family on Sunday afternoon. Abby was excited to be the center of attention, but was pretty tired out and quiet toward the end since it was her nap time. She got lots of wonderful gifts from grandparents, uncles and aunts. It was fun to watch her open her gifts - no racing along, ripping presents open and then hurrying on to the next one. Nope, Abby took her time with each gift, carefully pulling of the wrapping paper and then playing or admiring each item until we had to "force" her onto the next one because it was just taking too long! I thought it was sweet.
I ran out of time preparing for Abby's party to decorate her cake, so it just got a covering of plain icing. She had specifically asked for "flowers drinking" (i.e. that's Abby talk for flowers in a vase =) on her cake, and I felt kinda bad not having time to do it. But at least she got her flower cupcakes last week, so I talked those up quite a bit so she wouldn't forget. =) She was so tired out by time we had cake and ice cream that it ended up not mattering anyway.
After all the guests left, Abby got a second wind and spent the rest of the afternoon/evening playing and examining her new gifts. Her favorite that night was the doll with bottles from her Grandma Marks.

Second birthdays are so fun because they are now old enough to really know what is going on. I love it! Abby looks happy with her fun toys.
