The Little Artist

I have to do a little bragging here. =) Abby did her first coloring contest the other day, and I couldn't be more pleased. We hadn't tried coloring any actual pictures yet, just scribbling on blank paper, so I wasn't sure how well she would do with it. But when I saw the coloring contest at the grocery store, I knew it would be a fun thing for Abby to do and, plus, you get a dollar certificate to spend at the store just for turning it in! ;o)

Abby sat down to work and carefully colored her paper. With only minimal direction, Abby picked the colors and did her best to keep them on the correct parts. The leaves/stem were colored green, the scarecrow's mouth was red, his pants blue, the corn yellow (well, and a little red too!). Obviously, staying between the lines is beyond her skill, but for her first attempt I think she did great! I love how she took her time and thoughtfully colored her paper, rather than just scribbling all over it.

The finished product

Of course, I am very biased as Abby's mama, but I think she's a great candidate for winning the 2 and under category! We'll see... =)

Way to go, Abby! And Sara, you have learned a great way to store art...digitally! We often scan in pics the kids do, so that we don't have piles of papers the kids don't want me to get rid of!

Abby's amazing! She stays in the lines very well for an almst 2 year old. One can tell that she is a perfectionist, like her Momma! Great start for entering contests. Wonder what she will buy? Abby and Ben's proud Grandma.
