Hand Me Downs

Being a younger sibling has its positives and negatives, and I personally know all about it as I am the youngest of four (3 girls, 1 boy). One aspect that is inevitable is the issue of hand me downs. Parents love this, kids not so much. I have two older sisters, one nine years older and the other four years older. Sometimes I got some pretty good hand me downs, but other times I felt I got gypped. Not only was it pretty common to see me wearing fads and styles that were out of date due to the relatively big age span between me and my sisters, but I also got stuck with my oldest sister's hot pink banana seat bike which must have been pretty groovy in the late 70s when it was given to my sister but was definitely not cool in the early 90s when I was riding it to softball practice.

Now at the present, poor baby Ben is getting his first experiences with hand me downs. Unfortunately for him, he does not have an older brother and must deal with hand me downs of the opposite gender. Thankfully, he is blessed to have enough clothes not to have to wear any of his big sister's pink onesies or flowered pajamas, but he does have to put up with girly baby gear and accessories.

The Boppy Tummy Time playmat my sister Debbie gave to Abby.

The stuffed bunny rabbit Kevin's mom gave Abby.

Ben doesn't seem to mind having an occasional pink blanket to sleep with or a pink rattle to suck on, so for now we're safe. =)

We've been there, too! For awhile, Paul was riding Rachel's hot pink trike, till I found him a bike of his own! He didn't seem to mind...he just liked going fast! Daniel is next in line for the trike, I guess!!
