Benjamin turned two months old today. He's such a cute little fella and we're enjoying him more and more everyday. He had his two-month appointment today and weighed in at 12 lbs 14 oz (75th percentile) and measured 24 inches (90th percentile). Is it possible he got the big/tall genes from my side of the family that obviously skipped me (I think all my girl cousins are at least 5'10" and the men probably average around 6'3")? We're hoping so! Kevin and I are both fairly athletic, but neither of us were blessed with height so it would be fun to have an athletic and tall son. =)
This is what we've learned about Ben so far:
- He hates the car seat and cries for most car rides.
- He prefers to turn his head to his left side when he's on the changing table, taking a bath, etc.
- He loves to look out windows.
- He has a contagious smile that lights up his whole face.
- He's a horrible sleeper in the opposite way as Abby. Abby had an awful time falling asleep but slept well once she was asleep (at this point she was sleeping 6-7 hours straight at night); Ben falls asleep pretty quickly, but wakes up often (averages only one longer stretch at night of about 3 1/2 hours).
- He likes to cuddle.
- He likes to eat a lot and more frequently than Abby (he rarely lasts the full 3-hour schedule that I prefer).
- He has very long arms that feel wonderful when they wrap around my arm or neck.
- He has possible indoor allergies (stuffy nose and sneezing for weeks now).
- His cry is quite screechy/squealy.
- He is very strong and can support his entire weight standing up when he is angry. =)
- He toots a lot. Seriously, especially when he's waking up and stretching.
- He has good eye sight and loves watching Abby play next to him.
- When he wants to eat, he acts like he's starving to death and screams at the top of his lungs until he gets his milk. Every time.
- He is very ticklish on his whole body.
- His preferred method of falling to sleep is being held upright and burying his face in my shirt.
- He LOVES bath time and has never fussed a single time.

Wow, he is VERY big considering the nursing problems. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but he could be allergic to your cat. Our experience with Josh is that constant allergins excelerated his sleep apnea, nothing is fun about having to rub your baby's back to remind him to breathe.
Time flies! He is getting so big. I hope you figure out his allergies soon. I also have heard that sleeping problems can be linked to allergens (especially if his nose is stuffy). Glad you are having fun with him. Mandy was such a snuggler and never waited 3 hours (still doesn't) between feedings either.
Happy 2 months!! That is exciting! A couple things...one being that it's not really a "good" thing he is favoring one side. Could be a reason why eating is an issue and his sleep. He could probably benefit from the chiropractor...
and...Coleson was the same way with going from happy to mad in seconds when it was time to eat. and the tooting. EVERY morning he had a marathon after he woke up. It was silly. He would stretch and I would pump his legs and off he'd go. haha, silly boys ;)
You're right, Kelly, I don't want to hear that. =) Based on several factors, Ben's pediatrician thinks it might be a dust allergy as opposed to the cat and suggested we get an air filter. What you went through with Josh sounds awful and scary! Poor guy!
Alysun - thanks a lot for dashing my hopes that there is no way Ben could keep up his less than three-hour feedings for long term! :oP
Kristal - Yikes, I never thought about a chiropractor! I'll keep a closer eye on it and hopefully it won't have to come to that.
I love his smile! He is growing so fast!
He is adorable! And looks alot like Abby in the first picture! I wanted to tell you how much I LOVE your blog! I catch myself checking it every couple days to catch up! So, thank you! Love and miss you!!
A lot of those bullet points reminded me of Everly. Especially the screaming until she has the milk. haha.
He is growing fast!
