Not one to spend money on extra and spendy items (for me, this includes fair food!), I decided that this time we'd splurge a little and buy some food since we saved money by not paying admission fees. But after a quick walk through the concession stands, I just couldn't bring myself to shell out $4 for a corndog or $6 for curly fries. I think it's impossible for me to spend that much money on food and be able to enjoy it. =) Abby did get half a frozen banana that one of the vendors gave her. She was excited at first, but then kept saying, "Cold, cold," and didn't want to finish it.
So we instead made a quick stop at McDonald's on our way home, and we were all able to eat for $5.40. Not too bad. And Abby was quite happy with her chicken nuggets.
In the evening, we went to my parents' house for my birthday dinner and afterward watched Abby play in their backyard. Kevin decided to work with Abby on her throwing skills by trying to get her to throw the ball into the container. It was hilarious to see how excited she was -whether she made into the container or not didn't seem to matter to her!
Kevin also did a quick interview with Abby about his job that is too cute not to post:
All in all, the best thing about my birthday was getting to spend it as a family. Oh, and getting an hour and half nap during the afternoon was pretty cool too - what a treat for both kids to be sleeping at the same time and not even the cat woke me with his mewing as typically happens! Yep, it was a good day...now for a good night with hopefully lots of sleep!

Happy Birthday, Sara! I'm glad you had a fun, restful day!
Yay for a good birthday!!
Wow, I cant believe you all ate for that much! That is nothing! I have some hearty men eaters here though. :)
Kristal, we basically just ordered our "entrees" off the dollar menu and then supplemented with some crackers, blueberries and bottled water I'd brought along for snacks. Keeps it cheap that way! =)
