What did you do on the hottest day of this heat wave we've had here in the Northwest? We hit an all-time record high of 104 degrees here in Olympia yesterday and what did I do? I daringly took my two young children to the local county fair, because, after all, it was One Buck Wednesday (bring non-perishables for the food bank and get in for a buck). Heaven forbid I ever go to the fair when I have to pay full amount even if it is a stinkin' 100 degrees out! =) It actually wasn't so bad. We (my mom went too) got there around 10:30 and left by 1:00 before it reached the really high temperatures. And we weren't the only ones with that plan - I noticed all the parking lots were emptier when we left than when we arrived. Abby and Ben didn't seem to mind the heat too terribly much, but my shirt was pretty soaked by time we left (I carried Ben in a front pack the whole time).
I'm glad we went, heat and all. Abby loved looking at all the animals. Her favorites were the rabbits and the cows. And she also LOVED the flower/horticulture building and not just because it was air conditioned. Unfortunately, I only took two pictures the whole time so there's not much to look at in this blog post! Here's the better of the two:
No, we weren't looking at empty cages! If you look closely the bunny is barely in the picture in the lower left hand corner - he jumped out of the way right when I was taking the picture! =)
And, as always happens to me at the Thurston County Fair, I ran into several people I knew. This time they were all either former members of my parents church from when I was a kid or still go there but I hadn't seen them in several years. One of them informed me that she reads my blog all the time and she hasn't even seen me or my family in years! I love running into people that tell me they read my blog. Other than my five or six regular commenters, I never know if anyone else is really reading it and sometimes I think that maybe it's not worth the time I spend on it. So it's great to hear that others are enjoying keeping up with me and my family.
PS) And since I now know you will be reading this, Mrs. Flaherty, we checked out your quilts in the quilt building and they were gorgeous! We couldn't believe how many you entered! Great job on getting so many blue ribbons! And thanks for reading my blog. =)

Hi Sara,
Yes, I am reading, and happy to hear the update on Jamin. I love following the blogs of the younger generations and their babies. I was a stay-at-home mom when I raised my 3 daughters. I am now a stay-at-home grandma taking care of little ones.
Thank you for looking at my quilts.

Yay- the fair! I miss it. For some reason, although I never missed the Thurston county fair, I have never gone to the CO state fair which is right here in Pueblo! Odd huh? Maybe once Everly will enjoy it I will go again.
Sara,Sara,Sara, The thought of you not doing the blog takes my breath away. Your blog is like my lifeline. Thank you for it and please keep writing. I love you, Pam
