Ping Pong

This weekend Kevin broke in his new ping pong table. Apparently, these things are much harder to put together than one would think (or, at least, than I would think...). Kevin's brother Gene and his son Josiah came over Saturday morning to help Kevin and my nephew Stephen put the table together and play some serious ping pong. After they worked in the garage for awhile, Abby and I headed off to the grocery store, expecting them to be playing their hearts out when we returned. But this is what we returned to:

Not much improvement from when we left. So, Abby and I ate lunch (and if any of you have ever eaten a meal with my daughter you know that she is a SLOW eater) and went back out to the garage to check on the progress, but still no one was playing ping pong yet. Eventually, they finally got the table together!

They played all through Abby's afternoon nap time. Kevin and Gene are pretty die-hard ping pong fans. In fact, Kevin told me that when they were kids they would sometimes play ping pong in their dad's warehouse all night long until the sun started to come up!

When Abby woke from her nap, she was not happy to be left out of all the action going on in the garage (mostly since Daddy was out there and she wanted to be with him!), so we set her up in her stroller so she could watch the activity and I could work on dinner.

It was a fun day for the men and boys and I'm sure we'll be seeing a bit more of Gene and Josiah around our place now! =) Unfortunately for me, my car had been booted from the garage to the driveway for the weekend to make room for the ping pong tournament - not good when my sunroof leaks right over the driver's seat...and it rained last night. Thankfully, Kevin (and not me!) was the one doing the driving to church this morning so he got to sit through church with a wet back after water dripped down from the sunroof at every turn the car made on the way there! ;o)

that's helpful having Abby in there while you make dinner- what a great idea =)

So did you play any ping pong? And can the table fold up so your car can still fit most of the time? Maybe Abby will grow up a ping pong pro!

Ah, men and their "sports". Rainer used to correct me when I called it his "ping pong paddle"... nope, it was for "table tennis". (A very serious sport, I'm sure.) ;o)
