While we have very much enjoyed the unusual amount of snow around here, I am glad to see it melting away. And apparently I am not the only one. This morning, while eating breakfast, Abby, Calvin (our cat) and I couldn't stop looking out the back window at all the birds fluttering about in our yard. There were chickadees, blue jays, and, Abby's favorite, crows. She was very excited to hear the crows cawing and she chimed in her own, "Daw, daw, daw!" Although a couple chickadees braved the cold occasionally to eat out of our bird feeder, most of the birds have stayed hidden away during the last couple snowy weeks. We were so happy to see them back.
Watching all the birds enjoying the bright sunshine made me want to get outside too, so Abby and I bundled up (it's still fairly cold out!) and went for a much-needed walk. I've missed our walks and it felt so good to be out and about again. Not only did we see many birds on our walk (including a woodpecker at work only a few feet away!), but we were also excited to see the kitties outside again (cats always get a big squeal from Abby =) and a few squirrels. Hopefully, we won't get more snow for awhile. In fact, I think I've already had my fill of the snow for this winter and I'm ready for spring...yes, even though it's only January 2nd! =)
