Our snow is still around - 9 1/2 inches from our measurements. Both yesterday and today we took Abby sledding over at our park next door. At first we couldn't tell if she was enjoying it or not, because she was pretty silent and expressionless. After several trips down the hill, I asked her if she was all done or if she wanted more. To my surprise, she immediately made the sign for "more" and I knew she had to be enjoying it. Every time thereafter, upon reaching the bottom of the hill, Abby would sign "more." =)
Yesterday, I hadn't kept track of the time, and one time when we were pulling Abby up the hill I noticed that she was leaning farther and farther to one side. It was then that I realized that she was about to fall asleep and that it must be past her naptime! The poor girl could barely hold on, but still she kept signing "more." This time we overruled though and started pulling her home. She was so tired, she almost tipped over and fell out. We had a lot of fun together and I'm glad Abby found something about the snow that she enjoyed. =)
Kevin and Abby way down at the bottom of the hill.
Looking down at the sled run - our park was so beautiful and snowy that we felt like we were up in the mountains!
Family picture at the "tree." =)
Each morning this week when we get up, Abby and I spend some time looking out the window at the snow from the bedroom window (we are so lucky our snow hasn't melted like it usually does!). Abby is always excited to see the snow and says, "Ssss! Ssss!" but she has been sad that her normal morning routine of watching the birds has been disrupted. All the birds around here seem to be hiding out since the snow came. She'll occasionally say, "Daw! Daw!" (her version of "Caw") and look and look for signs of "her" birds. Then we head to the kitchen and eat our breakfast as we enjoy this view off the back porch from our kitchen table:
And just in case you aren't sick of seeing all our snow pictures (we can't stop snapping - all this lovely snow is so unusual for us!), here's another picture Kevin took of our house decked out with Christmas lights in the snow:
