We went on a walk yesterday in the beautiful spring sunshine. Jacob rode in the stroller for the first time. The last time we'd gone walking I'd had him in the front pack and I tripped and fell as I stepped off the edge of a sidewalk. Thankfully, I was able to think quickly and roll in a way that protected Jake - in fact, he actually stayed asleep the whole time! I scraped my knee a little and bruised my hip, but I was less hurt and more shook up about what could have happened if I'd squished little Jakey. Needless to say, I was a bit hesitant to use the front pack the next time and, thus, Jake's first trip in the stroller yesterday. He did great...as long as the stroller kept moving. Whenever the stroller stopped, Jake's crying started. :o)
We ended up at the park, where we had a picnic lunch and joined the 20 or so other children there (apparently, everyone was taking advantage of the gorgeous weather!). Ben wouldn't eat more than a few bites before he was all over the place, paying no attention to the sign that says one play area is for 2-5 year-olds and the other is for 6-12 year-olds. :) This was the first time I didn't follow him closely all over the playsets and instead mostly watched him from below. He did great. In fact, I had a hard time trying to catch up to him to get a picture!

Below, Ben is riding the middle of the teeter-totter while two girls rode on either end. Such a silly boy!

In contrast, my Abby-girl took her sweet time eating her lunch, giant dandelion in hand that we'd picked on our walk.
And after playing on the toys for a little while, she ended up over in the grassy area picking daisies. Such a contrast these two! :o)

We enjoyed beautiful weather too! Amazing what it does for everyone's moods.
I fell once holding a baby too. A parent's body just reacts to save that child even to the detriment of your own body! I wrenched my back and tore up my knees pretty good. All the while baby was fine in my arms. Hope you give the front pack a try again. Your little guy is safe there, but I can understand your hesitation. Those kind of things have a way of freaking a mom out!
