Abby Talk

Abby: "Everybody loves me, and I love everybody."
My sister Rebecca: "That's nice, Abby."
Abby: "But sometimes it's hard to love."
Rebecca: "When is it hard to love?"
Abby: "When someone takes my toys and doesn't share."
Rebecca: "Yes, that does make it harder."
Abby: "But Benny never takes my toys when he's asleep!"
Yes, I think even as adults, it is sometimes easier for us to love a person when they are sleeping! :o)

Kevin has ice cream almost every night after the kids go to bed. One night, he didn't want to wait but he also tried to be very nonchalant so the kids wouldn't notice (and thus want ice cream too - we try to make our kids eat better than we do! :) But Abby noticed his glass and asked, "Daddy, what's in your cup?" He answered evasively, "Stuff." She said, "You mean the stuff is ice cream and milk, and you mixed them together to make yourself a milkshake?" She's just too smart for her own good. :o)

As Abby looked out the front window, watching Kevin pick up the Sunday paper in the driveway, she asked, "Do newspapers come from the sky?"

Abby and I were watching a bee crawl around on the toys at the park when Abby asked me, "What is the bee's first name?" I was lost as to what she meant and said, "They're just called bees." But she again asked what their first name was. "Oh, do you mean bumble bee?" I asked.
"Yes!" she replied, "Bumble is the bee's first name!"

Abby is currently sleeping in a little toddler bed, but knows that it going to be Ben's soon and that we are going to get her a bigger bed. We've also looked at pictures together on Craiglist of what kind of bed we might get her. One afternoon, Abby was jumping on her toddler bed and I asked her to quit. Abby said, "Why?" I answered, "Because it's not strong enough for jumping and you could break it." Abby thought a moment and then asked, "Can my new bed be a jumping bed?"
