All Smiles

Jacob has been smiling for about a week now. We love it, of course! Smiling is that first big, gratifying milestone. And, for me, it means the end of the newborn stage is in sight and soon we will be able to have lots of fun with out little guy!

So who or what is Jake smiling at in the picture below? Surely, it's his mommy. Actually, no. He's blessed me with several smiles, but I'm no competition when it comes to his favorite object to smile at. Is it his daddy? Nope. Perhaps his adorable sister? No, again.

What brings the biggest and most frequent smiles from our boy is his safari mobile. Yup, meet elephant, giraffe, lion, tiger and monkey:

I have dubbed them Jake's "friends." He is completely infatuated with these guys and smiles almost instantly whenever he sees them...which is quite often, since the mobile is set up on the changing table. :) And sometimes he just gets down-right excited when they start to move:

Since Jake dislikes the bouncy seat and the swing so far, we are quite pleased to have finally found something that will keep his attention for awhile, albeit something that requires us to go wind it up every couple minutes. :)
