Memories at the fair together as a family: Priceless
We headed to our county fair on One-Buck Wednesday (bring a non-perishable item for the food bank and get in for a buck), thankful and excited that Daddy was with us. Kevin drove the boat back to the docks during the night before, sold his fish as early in the morning as he could, and raced back to Olympia to spend a few hours at the fair with us. And it was all his idea too. What a great Daddy. :)
Abby was the perfect age for the fair this year. She LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the animals. She got to pet a rabbit, a cow, a dog, and even a pig! In each barn, she would go down every aisle, checking out each stall or cage. And then sometimes she would go back down the aisle again, taking time to look at every animal a second time. If we'd let her and not encouraged her to move on to the next group of animals, I'm pretty sure she would have spent at least an hour in each barn! As it was, animals and flowers were what we spent 99% of our time viewing.
Ben enjoyed the fair much more than last year as well (obviously! :). But in typical 14-month-old fashion, he was just as intrigued with the animals as the surroundings. For instance, when looking at the chickens with Daddy, he was almost instantly distracted from the chicken by the water bottle on the cage, then the rafters overhead, and, of course, the light fixtures ("light" is by far his favorite word and he loves to point out lights everywhere we go :).
Kevin and I had both forgotten our cell phones at home, but we unexpectedly bumped into my mom and Hannah right before we were about to leave the fair. Much to Abby's excitement, she got to stay longer at the fair with Grandma while Mommy and Daddy took Ben home for his afternoon nap.
