The Fair

One of my favorite things about summer is the fair. The county fair, state fair, any fair really. I love seeing all the animals, looking at the exhibits, and browsing through the vendors. I also love fair food with all its greasy and sugary wonderfulness (but rarely buy any since it's so expensive! =). Last Sunday, we went to the Thurston County Fair and I was able to share my love for fairs with my daughter. And to top it off, Kevin was able to come too (for the first time in 7 years he had a Sunday off in August which equals out to good for a family outing, but bad for income since it shows how few customers are going fishing this year). We had a ton of fun showing Abby the fair and she did really well too, especially considering that we went right after church so she went for over six hours without a nap - a long time for a 9-month-old! Abby loved the fair much more than going to the zoo as we had done the previous week since you could get much closer to the animals.

Staring down the cow.

Helping Abby gently pet the dog - she squealed in delight. =)

She was very much intrigued with the goats, and they with her.

We got to see Bekah (Kevin's niece) perform several 4-H horse events.

And some more fair pictures because Abby is just so darn cute checking out all the animals!

Um, correction: that last picture is not of Abby checking out the animals...it's her visiting with her grandparents! ;o)

How funny that both Mandy and Abby's favorite fair animal is the goat. Looks like fun!
