Against My Better Judgment
As I mentioned in my previous post, we are still having problems with daytime napping. Tuesday (the day this picture was taken) was no exception. I had an awful time trying to get Abby to take her afternoon nap. I rocked, I sang, I let her cry in her crib, I tried everything. To top it off, the cat kept coming into her bedroom and whining just about any time Abby started to
settle down and would get her going all over again. Exhausted myself, I gave up and did something against my better judgment: I nursed her to sleep. We used the "bed" that was on the living room floor that my nephews had been using, since I worry about her falling off our bed now that she is so mobile. Sure enough, we both soon fell asleep and our location was approved by the kitty who joined us. When I woke up (about 30 minutes later), I thought it was so cute to see Calvin sleeping next to Abby (he RARELY gets this close to her and even then never when she is awake =). Deciding that I was no longer tired and would love to get some things done while my baby peacefully slept, I carefully moved my arm out from under Abby and tiptoed away. But instead of leaving them be, I could not resist the temptation to do a second thing against my better judgment: take a quick picture. So I tiptoed back in, focused my camera, snapped, flashed...and the cat looked up and meowed which caused the baby to wake up and cry. Yeah, real smart move. So much for the blissfully quiet naptime. Hope it was worth the picture for you all! =)

So sorry! I know how that goes! Daniel takes one nap a day, and I think he is about to give that up! I'm not ready to lose that time to get things done! They grow so fast!
I like that Calvin is as big as Abby! Glad you all got a half hour nap!
That's why I've never been able to get a picture of Jack sleeping! I know he'll wake up as soon as he hears the camera.
And, don't worry about nursing her to sleep. It won't last forever and you aren't doing any damage. :) Sleep is important, even if you do what you're not "supposed" to do (as I've recently discovered).
She is adorable!
You gotta do what you gotta do to meet the needs of your child. Her needs will change over time and you'll probably find yourself missing moments just like this!
Mandy isn't a good napper either, but she is terrible without it. For her, I've found I need to put her down much sooner than I think. She gets over-tired quickly and then it is just impossible to get her to sleep. Her morning nap is only an hour after she gets up in the morning and then she sleeps at about 12:30 again. Sometimes I even give her a third nap if she is cranky in the evening.
This to shall pass...
