We basically took a break from life for several days before and after my dad's surgery. It took us awhile to catch up on everyday life (especially the messy house! :) and now I'm finally able to catch up on the blog. The week before my dad's surgery, we took a trip to Oregon (the annual cousin's Valentine's Day party at Aunt Sandi's had been postponed until March). Using our new membership to the Museum of Flight, we were able to get in free to the Gilbert House in Salem. The kids had so much fun and I know we'll be stopping there again each time we go to Oregon until our membership expires!
Our time in Dallas was pleasant and fun as always. We spent time with my grandma, had lots of playtime on the farm (reading and toy-playing with Uncle Paul and Aunt Sandi, tractor "driving," four-wheeler rides, taking walks), and decorated cookies and played with all the little cousins at the party.
On our way home, we stopped to visit a dear friend of ours who had recently moved to Vancouver. Jean was my primary grades Sunday School teacher and became very special to me over the years. We are sad that she moved away but very happy for her to be nearer her family.
The day after we returned from our trip to Oregon, Abby got to go to a friend's princess-themed birthday party. She got to have her nails painted for the first time, decorated a princess crown, and played with the other princesses. It was a lovely time.
That about brings us up-to-date, minus Jake's 1-year-old pictures and a recent snow day which I'll put up soon!
