Recent Happenings

Most of the time we have little on our schedule other than church and occasional trips to the grocery store or a doctor's appointment. We try to do a few fun things here and there, but most of our days are spent at home. I don't mind it; in fact, I've purposely kept our schedule light because I know I'd wear myself out if I commit to too many things. In fact, fairly regularly, we go for several days at a time without leaving the house (well, walks around the neighborhood and to the park next door excepted). I am truly a stay-at-home-mom. :o)

But the past week was abnormally full for us and I paid for it. First was the trip to Aberdeen on Friday to visit Kevin's grandma (she has now been transferred to a nursing home to live her last days). The next day, the kids and I drove 45-minutes away to a friend's birthday party. The kids had a blast, so I'm glad we made the effort. On Sunday we went to church, of course, and then in the evening we went to my parent's church to watch my niece and nephew in the kid's choir production. It was tons of fun! Abby and Ben were transfixed and I enjoyed catching up with many of the people I grew up around (I went to that church from birth until I got married). The play itself was very cute and was called "Sermon on the Mound." The song that my nephew Solomon was a dandelion in was a hoot!

(Solomon is in the middle with his hands above his head)

The following day we got an unexpected, but welcome, visit from my uncle and aunt who were passing through to Oregon from picking up my cousin from college in Canada. Instead of getting a nap in that afternoon, I raced around the house cleaning and getting dinner on for the gang. It was great getting to visit with them. My mom was babysitting Hannah and Solomon, so they came over too.

Boy cousins Jesse, Ben and Solomon playing legos.

Girl cousins Juli, Abby and Hannah playing Candyland.

As much fun as we all had those few days, it all caught up with me and I developed my first breast infection since having Jake the next morning (I had none with Abby and 15 in all with Ben). The tell-tale redness, soreness, fatigue, and full-body aching soon took over and wiped the next couple days out for me. Hopefully, I learned my lesson and won't pack so much stuff in consecutive days again, but we sure enjoyed all we did!
