2-Months-Old

Jakey also had a "birthday" recently. He turned 2-months-old on May 7th, but I'm just now getting around to blogging about it. Coincidentally, that night he made huge improvements on his nighttime sleeping, going from an average of 3 hours being his longest stretch at night to an average 5-6 hour stretch. Yay! Makes for a much happier mommy. :o) Now if his daytime sleep will even out....sometimes he'll take multiple 2-hour naps a day and other days he won't sleep more than 45 minutes straight for no rhyme or reason. But I'm sure it will work out with time. Here's a few more things worthy of mention:
  • Although Jacob still prefers to be held against a shoulder when he's sleepy, when he's alert he now usually likes to be held outward so he can watch what's going on around him.
  • He will finally lie on a blanket on the floor for a few minutes (less than 5), but I can only do that when I'm close by or Ben is asleep anyway! :)
  • He still dislikes the bouncy seat and will only tolerate it on rare occasions...but I keep trying!
  • His favorite place (other than in mommy's arms) remains the changing table where he loves to watch his safari mobile.
  • He likes to hold onto a burp cloth or receiving blanket and suck on it.
  • He no longer cries when I change his diaper - this is VERY appreciated, as Ben continued to cry until long past age 1 and still hates to get his diaper changed!
  • He made it one entire trip home from church (about 15 minutes) without crying! Yay! But more typically he cries whenever the car stops moving at stoplights or whenever we reach our destination, so we rarely take the infant seat out of the car anymore. Again, this is a big improvement from our #2 child, so no complaints here. :)
  • He LOVES bathtime, but doesn't get them as often as our first two children since mommy as less time to give them.
  • He loves to snuggle and be kissed and is starting to show signs of being ticklish.
  • 2-month stats: 23 1/4 inches, 12 lbs 3 oz, and head circumference is 16 inches, all in the 61-66 percentile range. For the first time, we have a child that is proportionate (Abby and Ben have big heads :).
This afternoon I snapped this picture of him while he was enjoying watching his siblings play in the yard. As you can see, he loves to smile and has quite a strong neck!

We love this little guy dearly and already it seems like he's always been part of our family!
