Help! If any of you know me well, you know that I am probably THE most indecisive person you've ever met. My first photography assignment is due tomorrow morning and I need help deciding which pictures to submit. Our assignment was to take at least 100 pictures using only natural light, with special consideration given to contrasts and different viewpoints. Please remember that I am only a beginner and I'm just learning to use my camera in manual mode instead of the default auto settings that I've always used previously. Even that said though, just about anyone can take a decent picture out of hundreds with the technology of these fancy SLR cameras. Consequently, I came up with many decent pictures and am having a hard time narrowing it down to only three to submit tomorrow and present to the entire class. So, I'm coming to you, my blog readers, to help me pick! I also know that pictures "say" different things to different people, so it would be helpful to get your feedback since I may have overlooked a picture that many others would find special. So, without further ado, here are the candidates (all unedited at this point):
Dandelion #1

Dandelion #2

Baseball #1
Does the center shadow of a blade of grass detract from the picture?Baseball #2
Is the baseball blurry in the background intriguing or dumb?Galileo Thermometer #1

Galileo Thermometer #2
Crawling #1
Perhaps in black and white?Crawling #2
Definitely needs a little cropping on the right-hand side.Sippy Cup
Who noticed the unmatching barrettes? Lame?Little Feet

Cement Barrel

Old Window

Daffodil

Grape Hyacinth

Rope
Please vote for your favorite three pictures in the poll on the left-hand side bar and/or leave a comment! Thanks!
PS) I just checked this post on a different computer (we have three) and all the pictures look different!! Some pictures that I thought had nearly perfect coloring on one computer were too shadowed on the other computer and others that I thought were originally a little washed out had perfect vividness on the second computer. I guess that's a problem I'll have to think about with digital photography and something you'll have to keep in mind too as you view these pictures.

I am really drawn to the rope one, not only for its contrasts and depth of focus, but for what it represents to your family.
When I am trying to pick good pictures from okay pictures, I always imagine them enlarged and hanging on the wall like "real" art. I can see that with the rope -- taupe mat, black frame. Awesome.
I also like the old window. I would probably crop it differently so that the window itself appears at the hard left of the picture. It has great contrast too.
I love the crawling one #1. It is timeless and leaves a lot for the viewer to ponder. It would probably look great as a black and white. Is that allowed for this assignment?
Photography assignments are so great because it makes us see life differently while improving skills.
Ok I voted, but it looks like only my last pick was counted. I voted for Dandelion #2 (great color-I almost picked Dandelion #1, and still would if you can increase the contrast/brightness), Crawling #1 (cuuuuute, and yeah probably would look good in black and white also) and the rope (great texture and focus and I don't know much about what I'm talking about but it looks really nice.)
I also liked the cement barrel thingy, and Little Feet I noticed when you published it before in the collage, although I don't know if it's quite what the assignment is about.
Crawling #2 is missing the toes on the other foot... and I can't decide on the baseball ones.
These are all really nice pictures. I'm excited for you, and jealous!
Alysun - Thanks so much for the wonderful comments and feedback! I especially appreciate it coming from you, a professional photographer. =)
Leah - Yes, I forgot enable to poll to let visitors select multiple answers - sorry! I just changed it and have added your three votes, so thanks for telling me which ones they were. Also, thanks for your other comments too! Everything is helpful, even "if you don't know what your talking about." =)
I love the grape hyacinth- I love flowers plus you see the rock and the contrast there. A single flower in this harsh world. could be a poem?
I do like the rope too and the window and the first baseball one.
I also like the first dandelion one but maybe if it was a side view of abby so you could see both but not overlapping.
just my two cents. this sounds like such a fun class. I have always wanted to take some kind of photo class
loved crawling #1- so sweet and love the position of the feet and toes. also loved the rope as like Alysun said, what it means to your family, and just really unique and different.
great job!! i can't wait to hear how you do!!!
i vote for old window
