Couponing Again

It's fun to get back into couponing again after taking a break to finish up my correspondence course due at the end of December. I'm not quite caught up with all my clipping and filing that piled up over the past month, but I'm almost there!

Yesterday morning, I gave a presentation on couponing and deal finding at my church's moms group. We're a brand new group this year with only about 8 members, so it was real low-key - which is good, because I'm not good at speaking in front of groups and I wasn't as prepared as I wanted to be since I've been so busy with school and Christmas lately! But it was kind of fun sharing my passion for frugality with my friends. I gave them the link to my blog in case they wanted to check out the couponing links on the sidebar. And just in case any of them stop by, I thought I'd give them a little inspiration and post my shopping trip this morning.

Albertson's: $3.78 Spent

Albertson's has a Darigold promotion going on right now where you save $2 instantly for every $10 spent on certain Darigold items (for a complete list, see here). And as I told my group yesterday, this is BEFORE coupons! So, once you add some coupons in (I got most of mine here) and the three double coupons in the Albertson's weekly ad that came in the mail on Wednesday, the savings becomes significant. My deal was made even sweeter by finding the cottage cheese reduced from $2 to $.99 for quick sale! If I have time over the next few days, I might drop by Albertson's again to use my second set of double coupons (thanks to a neighbor!) on some of these items here or here.

Fred Meyer: $16.59 Spent (+ $15 back from rebate) = $1.59

Since my mom was watching my kids for me, I picked up this stuff for her (my grocery order was much larger and I didn't want to take the time to put it all on here!). I'm pretty excited about these deals.

The LaVictoria Salsa was free, yes, FREE! I had just mentioned to my mom a few days ago that I haven't come across any fantastic deals on salsa, so I was so happy to find this one! It's on sale for 2 for $4, but when you pair it with the $4 off 2 coupon from LaVictoria it becomes free (go here to see how to get your coupons - it takes few minutes of effort, but it's worth it!).

The Olay Regenerist facial cleanser was on sale for $6.99 plus I had a two $1 off coupons from a newspaper insert. Although we don't normally buy the stuff, there is a $15 dollar rebate from Olay when you buy two Regenerist facial moisturizers, treatments or cleansers. So, of course, I am not going to pass up a chance to try it and make $3 profit! =) And even if you don't have access to the coupons, you'd still make $1 and get some great product too! Or you could hold out and see if the Olay products go on an even better sale in the next couple weeks (rebate expires January 24).

The Kashi cereal was 40% off this week and my mom read a deal blogger here this morning posting that many of the Kashi cereals had $1 off peelie coupons on them. Unfortunately, other couponers had obviously gone before me since there was only one left. The cereal ended up being $1.39, which isn't bad for Kashi cereal but not quite as good as the deal I got on them once before (see here).

Finally, the green onions were on sale for $.44 and the parsley was regular price (yikes! ;o) for $.69. Fred Meyer is a great place to go for every day low prices. Out of pocket, my mom had to pay me back $16.59, but once she receives her mail-in $15 rebate she will have only spent $1.59 (+ one postage stamp)!! Awesome!

So, if you haven't tried your hand at couponing yet, I hope this gives you a bit of inspiration! And if any of you ladies from my moms group happen to read this, please leave a comment letting me know you stopped by (you don't have to have a google account to do this)! Thanks! Happy couponing!
