Look Alikes?

Abby at 4 months and 1 week.

Ben at 4 months and 2 days.

When Abby was very young, many people would mistake her for a boy. I know this is common since babies look pretty gender-neutral at first, but sometimes I was baffled since Abby would more often than not be dressed in pink and a bow in her hair when the inevitable question from a stranger would come, "Is that a boy or a girl?" As I smiled and sweetly said, "This is my daughter Abby," I always thought to myself, "Are you blind?? Who in the world dresses a boy baby in pink (or lavender) with bows in his hair??" Maybe it's common in San Fransisco, but not around here.

This all made me start to wonder what Abby would look like dressed as a boy. Kevin's brother gave us an "It's a Boy!" teddy bear shortly after Abby was born (sorta long, not interesting story). We also had many boy clothes for the first several months since we'd chosen not to know Abby's gender ahead of time. So, I decided to take a picture of Abby in one of the boy sleeper outfits with the teddy bear and a blue blanket in the background.

Now I'm extra glad I did, because it was fun to set up the same shot with Ben today at right about the same age Abby had been in the same outfit. It really helps to see similarities between the two when they are dressed the same. I don't know about everyone else, but all this time I'd been thinking that my kids don't look anything alike (and I'm talking beyond the obvious eye/hair color differences), but these pictures have definitely helped me to see a few similarities. They definitely wouldn't pass for twins, but I'm beginning to conclude that they look more like siblings than I first thought.

What do you think? Totally different? Definitely brother/sister? What similarities/differences do you see?
