For every two days that seem to go well and things seem to improve, I have a day where things get worse. Sunday was one of those days. I was extremely exhausted and Benjamin was having a bad day (i.e. extreme fussiness, wouldn't eat well, etc). Add in a trip to church and all the energy that takes and the end result was a very emotional Mama. Thankfully, a friend at church stepped in and took over holding the screaming Benjamin and sent me outside for a breather (thanks, Kristal!). Another bad day was Monday (yikes, two bad days in a row!) when I got a clogged milk duct that developed into a very painful breast infection. Lots of rest and hot packs later, I'm feeling better today but trying to take it easy as I continue to heal. And speaking of healing, my tear from labor is still causing me many difficulties, but hopefully now that I'm on some medication it will start improving again. The c-section was bad, but I never knew a vaginal delivery could take so long to recover from!
Anyway, since nobody wants to read a post without any pictures, here's a picture of my adorable daughter stopping to smell the roses!

Yes, the soreness was around a lot longer then I had thought it would be too. But I'm glad that you have friends close by to help you out!
I've never had a C-Section, but I argued with people who did that the healing process with a vaginal delivery is more painful. It can be very, very long. Sorry to hear you are still in pain and have to deal with a clogged duct. Eek!
Alysun - Since I've had both, I can give you an honest opinion: for me, the c-section hurt much worse for the first couple weeks, but the recovery from the vaginal delivery is seeming to take longer. It's like this: the c-section hurt almost 100% worse at the beginning (mine hurt worse than many of my friends who have had them) but I got back to, say, 80-90% better within four or five weeks and stayed there for months. I feel like with the vaginal delivery, I went pretty quickly to 50-60% within the first week but then have hovered around there the whole time since.
Youre welcome! I was happy to hold the little guy and give you a break. I have had that blessing before too, it's needed from time to time.
I hope things continue to go in the right direction for you guys. Sweet picture.
Ugh sounds pretty icky! But I am glad to hear you say there are steps forward as well. You can be thankful they're not all back...what a sweet reminder to stop and smell the roses from your little girl.
oh, breast infections are the worst! so glad to hear you caught it in time - before the fever, weakness, etc. set in.
thanks for blogging so candidly. it's really great to get a glimpse into life with 2... :o]
what's funny is that even though felicity's only 8 months old, i can't remember all the exhaustion of the newborn stage...i just miss the cuddly little sleepy baby girl! lol. enjoy it as much as you can :o]
Andrea - Actually, I was achey all over, weak and exhuasted, but caught it before the fever set in.
Yes, I can barely remember all the difficulties we went through with Abby, so to comfort myself, I look at Abby and tell myself, "One day Ben will be as cute, as good a sleeper, and as self-sufficient as Abby is!" =)
i think the newborn phase is so rough- and your little guy sounds like he is helping build some extra character =). i just got over a bout of mastitis which only lasted 2 days- caught it early too. i have had it once with all 3 now- they say the percentage increases that if you have it with one, you will most likely have it with the next, and so forth. lovely, huh? =) i guess its not too bad if it helps you get in some extra rest time. my encouragement to you- rest as much as you are able to and allow your body to heal- use that awesome of mom of yours and friends- you won't regret that- rest and smell the roses while you do it =).
love you!
If a woman can survive raising "come with great difficulty" types of children, she can do anything!
