What a week!

Since Tuesday, I have been sick with the flu. Fever, sore throat, coughing, headache, fatigue - the whole shebang. Ugh. Today is the first morning that I awoke without a fever, but I'm totally congested and still have a sore throat and headache. At least I finally feel like I'm on the road to recovery. In some ways, I feel like I just lost a whole week of my life. I never left the house all week and I didn't get a thing done. I don't remember being sick for this many consecutive days ever. Kevin also came down with the flu on Wednesday, but thank the Lord it seems that somehow Abby has been able avoid it. In fact, although the week was a loss for me, Abby was as busy as ever!

Abby keeping her sick Daddy company.

Since my post about Abby sitting up, she has been persistently working on mastering her new skill. She is now able to sit up with a straight back, but still teeters over occasionally. At times she's able to catch herself and other times we have to help her a bit. She's also come to love playing the piano. It's so cute to see her banging away at the keys. Abby also continues to get better at her coordination - grabbing things, aiming toys into her mouth, passing items from hand to hand, etc. And she's really starting to enjoy playing with her feet. She now likes pulling her socks part-way off her feet so that she can get the sock into her mouth to suck on.

Pulling a toy out of the basket for the first time.

And then her big news for today: Abby rolled over for the first time! After putting her down for her nap, I wondered why she was still fussing so I went to check on her and found her turned over! I called Kevin in quickly and we gave Abby several congratulatory remarks and then put her back down a few minutes later. After she woke up, I realized that I hadn't even taken a picture or video of her turned over in the crib. So, I put her on a blanket on the floor and grabbed the video camera. About 4 or 5 minutes later, she rolled over and I was able to catch it on tape! I was pretty proud of the fact that I got on camera her rolling over for the first time in front of a person. Unfortunately, I don't know how to get a clip off our camera and onto this blog, so you'll just have to take my word for it!

It's been absolutely amazing to see Abby grow and develop. I can't believe how fast it's going. It seems like every day she does something new. On the other hand, she also stops doing things she used to do too. She seems so old to us already. Kevin and I remark to each other all the time, "Man, she's so big!" or "She's practically not even a baby anymore!" or "She's such a big girl now!" Honestly, it's like she's a totally different person from the squawking baby we brought home from the hospital. And she has such personality and is able to do so many things now that we feel like the term "baby" hardly even fits her anymore! =)

Yikes! I'm sorry you've been so sick. My Mom said Abby looked like she was practically 1 year old already when she saw you the other day, so it's not just you. :) Is there some time I could call this week?

It is so hard to be a mommy and be sick as well! There are not enough hours in the day. Sorry to hear you were so miserable all week. Glad you are on the road to recovery.

They do grow so quickly! Wait till she starts walking-they are such little people so early on!

Re: the video...What kind of camera is it? if it's a digital camera then you put it into the computer(or connector) and then next to the add image "tab" is add video on the blog. Select that and "browse" to where your camera disk is.... it takes a little while for the video to upload.
If you do not have a digital camera I am not sure!!! =)

Kristal - I think I could figure out how to get it on my blog from the computer, but I'm not sure how to get it off our digital camera onto the computer. Kevin's the only one who has done that before (it seemed like a fairly long and complicated process from what I saw), and helping me figure it out is not a high priority for him right now. ;o)
