Two of my sister Rebecca's sons have lived in Montana with their father for the past two years. It is hard to be so far apart, especially because of the way the father handles the situation and puts pressure on his sons. So, it was like a breath of fresh air to be able to enjoy having Ted here in Washington for six weeks this summer. He spent most of his time with his mom and her new husband - which is good - but I felt like I hardly got to see him! So, on Ted's last night before having to head home, my mom and I and the kids spontaneously decided to head out to my sister's place (about 30 minutes south), bringing dinner and s'mores makings. It turned out to be a lovely and fun evening and I'm so glad we did it. And then it was time for goodbye for another year. :o(

We were extra sad to learn a week after Ted's return that for the third time in three years Ted's father decided to move the their family AGAIN and also in the same manner (with no advanced warning - he seems to enjoy the control of springing things upon people). So Ted must face a new school for the third year in a row and also moving to a town more remote than anything I can imagine (Baker, MT - a town of 1700 people with the next biggest town over 80 miles away!). We will greatly miss you, Ted and will be praying for you!
