Christmas Fun

Kevin and I both grew up with our moms making Christmas mints every year. The recipes are fairly different and both of us insist that the ones we grew up with are much better than the other. We made both kinds when we first got married, but haven't made either recipe in recent years. Kevin decided this was the year we should do it again (mostly since Abby is old enough to join in). And so the friendly arguing began over which recipe we should do. Kevin won (mostly because I didn't have all the ingredients for my mom's recipe on hand and he went to the store to buy his missing ingredient :). Since the mints were "his" kind, I sat the process out and watched Kevin and Abby have fun making them together. Soon Benny was right in there with them. Kevin showed much more patience and restraint than I ever could have, as the kids basically mutilated the mints (all of these will be staying in our house and will not be given away :).

Afterward, we all watched "White Christmas" together (can you believe Kevin and I had never watched the whole movie before?). I love it when the kids cuddle with me on the couch.

But their Daddy was on the love seat and soon they ditched me for him....the second the cat jumped up on his lap. Oh well, I enjoyed it while it lasted and I guess Mommy just can't compete with Daddy AND the kitty! :)
