Fun Day | Field Trip and Friends

My niece Hannah had the day off from school and wanted to do something special with Abby. Originally, we all planned to go to Lattin's Cider Mill and Farm, but then the weather forecast turned bad and the plan changed the night before to go to the Capitol building. But when the morning started out with sunshine, we decided to go back to our original plan. We headed to the farm and hit rain almost the entire way there. Three times we almost turned back, but decided this was probably our only chance to get out there so we'd better go for it. Well, we were sure glad we did. From about two miles out from the farm, the ground was totally dry and it didn't rain a drop on us for the couple of hours we stayed there! The kids had a blast! The animals, of course, were a hit. There were also several fun activities to do and we even had a picnic lunch outside (I'm sure the last one of the year!) and bought some freshly-made cider donuts for dessert as a special treat.

Ben loved feeding the goats!

We carried umbrellas around for awhile, but put them back in the car after we didn't need them! Yay!

Having lots of fun in the wooden-fence maze!

After going home for naps for the kids, we headed over to some friends' house for dinner. Kevin and I had a great time catching up with our friends Daniel and Tanya (it has sadly been years since we'd gotten together). The kids loved playing with their two girls (ages 4 and 6). And the highlight for Ben was their two kitties whom were very child-friendly and playful - so fun for him since our cat won't put up with much and is getting kind of old.

It was a full, but fun day. Oh, and I even cleaned out the laundry room from top to bottom all because a lincoln log fell into the lint vent and got wedged in the fan. Kevin had to take the dryer apart to get it out and gave me the ultimatum beforehand that I had to get the laundry room perfectly clean and all the clutter out or organized. Although it most definitely wasn't a planned project, it's nice to have a sparkly clean and well-organized laundry room again! :)

We had a great time having you over for dinner tonight too! We definitely need to do it more regularly. I got the one picture of Abby holding our kitty, but her eyes are totally closed. Drag! Abby and Ben will have to come over to see the kitties again and then we can get some good pictures. :)
