Visitors

My cousin Jayne called me up on Monday and asked if she and her three kids could come visit the next day. I cleared my schedule (ahem, put off some errands =) and gave her the okay. I am always so impressed with Jayne. Although we have been best of friends since we were very young and have many similar likes/dislikes, we are also opposites in several ways. Her husband was able to ask her only one day ahead of time if she could pack up her three kids (ages 4 and under) and travel three hours to pick up some parts for him. No problem, she says, and decides to drive another half-hour to come visit me too. That is impressive. I have to plan things way in advance, would have to pack a million items and be prepared for every possible scenario in order to take three young children on a three and half hour drive, and would probably be pretty stressed out by the end of it. I definitely wish I could be more like Jayne in this area of personality. The last time she drove up here was when Ben was 2 1/2 weeks old and she even brought a casserole for dinner with her so as not to trouble me too much! Amazing!

It was fun to watch Priscilla and Abby play together. They are only ten days apart in age. Abby had a bit of hard time with Priscilla playing with some of her special toys and I was reminded again how good it will be for Abby to have a brother and have more opportunities to learn to share. After me having to calm Abby down and remind her several times about sharing, I was quite surprised and pleased to see Abby giving her favorite sandals to Priscilla to wear when it was time for everyone to go outside. So sweet!

And, of course, no trip to my house is complete without some time spent at the playground next door. My niece Hannah (who staying with my parents for her third visit this summer from Eastern Washington!), joined us at the park later in the afternoon and had fun playing with her second cousins that she rarely sees.

The girls.

It was a fun visit and we look forward to the next one!
