The Last Week

It's hard to believe that arrival time is just about here - only five days from the due date now. I had a false alarm earlier this week. I got sick Wednesday afternoon and throughout the night was vomiting, had diarrhea and some pretty strong contractions. I couldn't tell if I had some stomach virus or if I was going into labor. Ironically, I had mentioned to my sister Debbie on Monday that just about the worst thing I could think of would be going into labor at the same time as having the stomach flu...well, I definitely got a good taste of what that would be like. And it was just as horrible as I suspected. Sitting on the pot, throwing up into a bowl on my lap and trying to breath myself through a contraction all at the same time is definitely one of the worst things ever. Although my contractions finally began to subside around 3am, I had gotten so dehydrated by then that I almost thought we'd have to head into the hospital just to hook me up to an IV. But finally at about 6am I was able to keep some fluid down for the first time in 12 hours. Yuck, what a night. And even now, three days later, I'm still recovering and not feeling all the way back to normal yet. Here's to hoping that baby holds off coming for a few more days so I can at least get all my strength back and have a couple normal days to get some stuff done and enjoy myself...

Ugh, that sounds awful! Something similar (but not has awful as your recent bout,) happened to me the day before I went to the hospital in labor with Lukas. I was having crummy...ahem... "stomach problems" and felt horrible, and ended up leaving my last day of work early. I thought, "Oh no, please Lord don't let me be getting sick just when I'm getting ready to have a baby!" The next morning I threw up the only thing I'd eaten in a while, and later was on my way to the hospital. Luke was born the next morning. I'm reeeeeeeally hoping that's not just the way my body goes into labor. Yuck.

I'm praying for a better experience for you this time around. Can't wait to hear some news!

You look super cute!

What a terrible time to get so sick though. I'm glad you're over it and feeling better. I just had the same thing yesterday and felt like I was going to die...and I didn't even have the contractions to contend with (of course.) Plus mine only lasted a few hours. Hang in there!

Candace - I'm actually due in five days, but that picture was taken one week ago so it does show me at two weeks before delivering...how did you know? =)
