I could have blogged about later that night when we dealt with a problem which brought back memories of Abby's first few weeks home from the hospital. After Abby fussed for hours and refused to go to bed, we decided it must be Abby's first bout of teething and Kevin headed to Walgreens at 1:30am to get Abby some Orajel. The difference between this time and Abby's first few weeks of life were the adorable little smiles she would give us between fits of sobbing, but it was still tiring and frustrating. We finally collapsed into bed at 2:30am.
I also could have blogged about Abby's first time going "bowling". My nephews were up for the weekend and we (along with my parents) headed over to Tumwater Lanes Saturday evening. I didn't know if Abby would be bothered by the noisy bowling alley, but she ended up loving it! She was totally enthralled by the lights, balls, sounds and of course the many TV monitors (we have taken to heart the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendation not to allow children under the age of 2 to view TV, but Abby is attracted to it like a magnet no matter how hard we try to stop her!).
Additionally, I wanted to make a blog about Kevin and Stephen (my oldest nephew who stays with us every other weekend) finally putting Abby's crib together - I'd been asking them to do it for the last three weekends Stephen had come up. Abby only had about 2 inches to spare in her bassinet that was in our bedroom. Saturday night was to be her first night in her own room (aka the guest room/Stephen's room). Stephen wasn't too excited to share "his" room with her, but he had to know that the time would come eventually. As it happened, she only lasted one hour before waking up. After feeding her, I decided to put her in her bassinet so she wouldn't wake Stephen again. The next night she slept for eight hours in her crib! Yay!
Abby's 4-month trip to the pediatrician Monday morning would have made a good post as well. Her doctor assured us that she was growing and developing very well (as if we didn't know that already!). Abby now weighs 15 lbs (77 percentile), is 25 inches tall (75 percentile), and her head is 16 1/2 inches in circumference (74 percentile). And, of course, Abby had to get her next round of vaccinations. I absolutely cannot stand to watch it, so I stood part way behind Kevin's back so I could only see Abby's face...but I still knew the exact moment that the nurse stuck Abby with the first needle. Her wails pierced my heart and I couldn't help but match her tears trailing down her cheeks. How horrible it feels as a parent not to be able to rescue your little one from the pain.
Finally, I thought about posting a blog about Abby getting her first tooth. On Monday afternoon, her Aunt Debbie noticed that it broke through her gums. Indeed, just the tip of a white mark could be seen on her lower gum. Debbie, a hygienist, made sure that we knew it was Abby's "O" tooth and that "P" was on it's way soon. =) My sister is a little bit obsessed with teeth so it was quite fitting that she should be the first one to see Abby's budding tooth.
And so all that (in addition to Abby and me getting a cold these past few days) is why you have not heard from me for a week!
Happy 4-months-old Birthday, Abby!
Stephen and Kevin showing Abby her newly built crib and Abby taking her first nap in it.
Bowling with the nephews. We could not get Abby to look at the camera even once, because she was too busy checking out everything!
Abby's bandaid on her leg where one of her shots was given. =(

You have an impressive husband! He goes with you to doc appts. and becomes concious when Abby cries night?!? You should feel loved! Yeah, the breaking teeth deal is hard, just wait until she bites down while nursing and you get a breast infection. Oh, what you have to look forward too :P
Great pics and stories. I also think all the time, "I should blog about this." There is something rather adicting about it and I am glad you've caught the bug (blogging, not cold). It is really great to be able to see Abby grow and change.
Hint when at the doctor's for shots...never look in Abby's eyes when they are giving them! That is worse than watching the shot itself!! =)
She is growing so fast! Keep up the good work!
