May Activities 2015

We always enjoy our dogwood when it blossoms in early May. It starts out a deep pink and turns into this light pink picture below. I have no idea why Abby hung her boots in the tree, but she and Ben love climbing up there all the time!

Jake loves to make Liz laugh and smile. They giggle together all the time!

Watching a little baby learn to clap is always so cute!

And then there's these two - best friends forever, I'm sure!

The warmer spring days we always try to take advantage of by spending lots of time outside. If I remember correctly, this was the late afternoon/evening of the day of my dear friend Kara's wedding. She moved to New York right afterward, and I miss her so much!

The next day was Mother's Day and I had to get special picture with my Benny as it was his 6th birthday as well. He was born on Mother's Day too!

The Mother's Day picture attempt was a total failure. Kevin never likes it when I try to get him to take pictures, so we had a grumpy Daddy and kids that wouldn't all look at the same time! :)

We got the walker down from the attic. Lizzy liked it, but not nearly as much as her older siblings. Just like all the other baby gear (bouncy seat, bouncer play gym, etc), Lizzy much preferred to spend most of her day in my arms. So since the walker got so little use, we decided it wasn't worth tripping over and we passed it on to a friend about a month later.

This was Kevin's crew from 2014-2015. The young man on the left, Sam, has been deckhanding with Kevin for many years (we met his family when they visited our church several times). He actually ran the Miss Abby as captain last summer (2015) for tuna season while Kevin managed the seafood store in Westport full-time. It was a first for both of them! The gentleman in the middle is the son of one of the elders at the church I grew up at (we had our wedding rehearsal dinner at their beautiful home). Their family has since moved on and are members of a Messianic Jewish congregation. The occasion of the picture is obviously Eric's wedding, which was one of the most fun weddings I'd been to! I've always wanted to go to a Jewish wedding before, and this was the closest thing to it for me! So much rich symbolism that is even greater when those celebrating understand that Yeshua is the ultimate Bridegroom to which the ceremony points. I wish standard Christian weddings included more of this  Biblical symbolism, rather than just the mostly European cultural traditions.

We finished up the AWANA year at my parent's church, with all the kids finishing their books and Abby completing the additional workbook.

Cousins Aiden and Solomon came over for Ben's 6th birthday party.

He wanted at city-themed cake, as you can tell. The cake did not pass my standards, but I am learning not to be a perfectionist, which is good for me, I suppose. I simply don't have the time anymore to get things done perfectly. And you know what? Nobody really cares but me anyway! :)

Lizzy started standing on furniture and soon would be cruising around.

She started doing the scrunched-up smiley face from quite a young age, but I find it adorable. :)

Lizzy would often fall asleep while I was nursing (although not as often by this age), and sometimes I would ask Abby to switch spots with me so that Lizzy would stay asleep on the pillow since I knew if I moved her too much she would wake up. Sometimes we sleep-deprived mamas will do almost anything to get a few minutes to get some work done! ;)

Jake enjoyed helping Kevin with a spring yard project.

Of course, he soon got distracted playing in the water table. :)

Little Miss and I sat in the shade watching them work and I remember how excited she was to be outside. It was almost like she was cheering them on. :)

I think I've done a tiered cake before...but I can't actually think of one, so maybe I hadn't! Ha! Thanks!
