Abby | 7-Years-Old

This post is late in coming! On October 28th, 2014 my "baby" girl turned 7-years-old. She is growing up so quickly! Abby is a huge blessing to our family. She is so helpful and kind and caring. She has a lot of compassion for others. She is so beautiful inside and out!

School is going much better lately. Writing was a struggle last year and for part of the beginning this year. Now most days, Abby flies through her schoolwork and writing is no longer something that causes daily tears. We are thankful for that! :)

She LOVES having a little sister and can't wait until she and Lizzy are finally sharing a room. They are quite precious together. Abby has been a big help to me since Lizzy was born - an extra set of arms to hold the baby, someone to poor Jake a cup of milk when I'm busy with the baby, helping to unload the dishwasher and cleaning up toys (and even organizing them herself!), and a friend for me when I get a break to go on a walk as we talk, pray and sing hymns together. She is growing up so quickly!

Her party was lots of fun. She asked for a rainbow cake, and after searching the internet for awhile, we found the idea of doing rainbow colors ribboned along the sides of the cake - it turned out beautifully and everybody loved it!

We did a simple party this year - just invited some of the family. I got Abby a Chinese jumprope and it was fun to teach the younger generation a game I'd had so much fun playing in my grade school years. We also ended up doing Cat's Cradle - so between those games and the rainbow theme, we basically had a retro 80s party going even though it was unplanned. :)

One last minute guest to the party was Stephen, who also spent the night! He came up to get a car from his mom (but he had to put hours of work into it first to get it running) and it worked out perfectly for him to come to the party - we loved getting to see him so soon after the wedding! :)
