Easter

The evening before Resurrection Sunday we headed over to the Capitol grounds to take a few Easter pictures of the kids. I wanted some nice and new backgrounds for the pictures and I also didn't want to have to worry about trying to get pictures Sunday morning when I would be busy prepping for hosting Easter dinner at our house and getting the family ready for church.

We tried to get a picture of all three kids, but it just wasn't going to happen. Jake is too much on the move and didn't want to sit down for even a second. And, as you can see, he likes to wave at the camera now. :)

But we got a lovely one of the big kids, my favorite picture of the evening! This one is a framer for sure!

Following a wonderful service at church, we hurried home to get things ready for all the family coming over. Dinner was delicious, with my mom and I splitting up making all the food. I tried a couple new recipes in addition the our traditional ones: one was a hit, one was not. Oh well! :) The kids had fun doing an egg hunt, especially since I opted not to do an area egg hunt this year.

And after Jake woke up from his afternoon nap, I realized we were all still in our Sunday clothes thought we might as well try to get a family picture. It's always a difficult feat with three young children, but we pulled off one that's better than any we've gotten in a long time. Not perfect by any means, but we'll take it!

Of course, it wasn't accomplished without mishap and excitement! :)
Some of the boys and girls separately:
There's that hand-waving boy!

And even one of Mommy and Daddy, which didn't turn out terribly well (too much sun, a little blurry), but I can't even remember the last time we've had a picture taken of just the two of us so it's good enough!

The day came to a close with more running and playing, more cleaning up and washing dishes, and reading time with Grandpa.

Sara, I love the pictures. Your dinner looked lovely and with you and your mom cooking I'm sure it tasted great. So glad your dad is looking so well. If I could ever think, would love to know how you get all the pics in a collage in the one picture. It looked really neat.
