Flying and New Baby

What do you title a post about a trip to the Museum of Flight with Grandpa combined with a visit to meet a friend's new baby? Yeah, I know, I couldn't come up with a good one either! Hence, the strange title of this post (and haha to those that thought for a moment that this post might have had something to do with a pregnancy announcement! :). But before I get on with pictures from our outing, please don't forget to enter the giveaway for 6 cans of albacore tuna!

Earlier this week, the kids and I went up to the Museum of Flight in Seattle with my dad to start our year-long membership (we went in on it together, purchased from livingsocial.com, a group-buying coupon discount site). My dad has always really been into airplanes and flying. He even flew to South America with a friend in his younger days and had all kind of adventures! He tried to explain the mechanics of flying to the kids. But although my dad is quite intelligent about the subject, he doesn't do the very best job explaining it on 2 and 4-year-old level. :o) Ben's short little attention span had him running here and there barely listening more than a second or two. Abby did better, but I don't think she understood much. :o)

But they still had a lot of fun with their Grandpa and it was a sweet time, especially in light of my dad's upcoming open heart surgery he'll be having on March 6th (aortic valve replacement and two bypass procedures). These days the risks of heart surgery improve more and more, but it has been heavy on my mind that any day could be our last with my dad.

After the museum, my dad went to look at a boat and we headed just a few miles away to visit my friend Shauna and meet her son, 2-month-old baby Atticus. What a sweet and beautiful boy!

Abby and Ben adored baby Atticus and were so sweet with him. I wish they had been that way when Jake was little, but apparently another year older helps them be more interested in babies. Shauna and I both really enjoyed our visit together and, once again, found ourselves wishing we lived closer together! But we'll be back soon, I'm sure, now that we have this Museum of Flight membership. :o)

funny! Coleson and Tate have been enthralled with Grady from the start! Glad you got to visit...it can be so hard to have good friends live so far away.

Will be praying for your dad!

Sometimes it seems like children don't understand explanations, but I think Ben will remember listening to his Grandpa and having a great day
For a two or almost three year old listening involves action. Someday he will tell you about it.

I am happy to hear that your Dad will have the surgery and that Kevin is doing well with crabbing.

We had such a great time! Isn't it crazy how interested children can be in other children! Atticus only seems interested in interacting with older children, he doesn't seem to know what to do with other babies!
