Tuna Time

Since the tuna showed up so late this year, many of our customers from our seafood store that had put in orders in the months before no longer wanted the tuna. All of a sudden, we had several thousand pounds of tuna that needed to move and quick. So, Kevin brought some home with him last night and we did a little canning. We hadn't canned any in a couple years, so it was fun to show Abby how it was done. And now that she was older, she wanted to jump right in and help.

She did a wonderful job smashing the tuna loins into the jars! Unfortunately, she had to go to bed before we put them in the pressure cooker, but we plan on doing several more batches over the next few weeks so she'll get to see the whole process a different time.

Yummy tuna! Home canned albacore tuna (or home-style canned that we sell online :) just can't be beat! Once you try it, you'll never want to go back to that nasty store-bought chunk light junk! ;o)
