Saturday Outing

My mom and I had been wanting to take the kids down to the Farmer's Market and then ride the Dash (a free shuttle bus going from the Farmer's Market to the Capitol building) but never got around to it all summer. So, today when she dropped by and the sun was shining and the kids were driving me nuts with all their whining (ahem :), we decided to just go for it. Well, unfortunately, the Dash quit running on the weekends just one week ago, so after walking through the Farmer's Market we headed down on the boardwalk instead.

The big kids and I climbed the tower and waved to Grandma and Jakey below.

I realized that with Abby's birthday coming up, now was a good opportunity to snap a few pictures for her 4-year-old pics. So I tried. But my model wasn't very willing. (We did get a few good ones, but I'll save them for her birthday post. :o)

 After nursing Jake while the big kids threw rocks in the water with Grandma, I decided to snap a few pictures of a more willing model.

Ah, such a smiley boy!

Abby and Ben wandered over to see what was going on and I thought it'd be fun to get all three kids together in a picture. But Jake was too fascinated with the flowers on Abby's shoe to look up, and shortly thereafter everything fell apart when Benny blew his dandelion all over Abby's hair.

(I caught the picture at the giggles stage, before Ben started to rub the dandelion bits around on Abby's head and she got mad at him. :o)

This evening we found out why there was so much whining today: Abby has a temperature, tummy-ache and headache. Poor girl! And although Ben and Jake don't currently have a temperature, they don't seem to be themselves either. Here we go for the next round of sickness! (And why does it almost always seem to occur on the weekend so that we have to stay home from church?!) :o(
