On our way back to Dallas, we stopped over at my cousin Jayne's place. She and her husband and their three children live in a beautiful log home up in the woods. Unfortunately, a cell tower was out in the area and we were unable to communicate before our arrival and Abby and I ended up spending more than an hour there before Jayne and her kids got back from some errands. We did have fun looking at all the animals while we waited. They have sheep, pigs, a donkey, a dog, kittens, rabbits and even bees! Abby enjoyed seeing all of them, but nothing compared to her excitement for the kittens - especially the one that was similarly colored to our cat, Calvin. After some play time with her little cousins and a dinner of lamb stew, we headed back to my aunt and uncle's where my Grandma and mom were waiting for some more visiting time with us (neither my cousin Jayne nor I took pictures of our get together because we were both so worn out and were too tired to even go get our cameras from our cars).
Tuesday morning we headed back home, exhausted from our adventures. I was so excited to get home, and Calvin was just as excited to see us (he'd been on his own for the last few days since Kevin had been gone fishing the whole time we were in Oregon). I couldn't wait for Abby to take a nap in her own crib and me in my own bed....but the cat kept meowing and the construction workers outside kept banging. So, finally, the three of us ended up cuddling and then falling asleep in my bed. Since Calvin usually sleeps in the position Abby is in in the picture below, he tried to get close to me and ended up curling up above my head on the pillow. Unfortunately, by the time I got the camera, Calvin had moved (yes, I took the picture and am pretending to be asleep at this point - it seems that there is never anyone around to take a picture the few times we've fallen asleep together! =).
Since we've been home, Abby has been giving her Daddy lots of hugs and has been wanting to be with him most of the time. She obviously missed him a lot. It took a few days to get back into our routine (not to mention that Abby just had another tooth come in and one or two more are soon on their way), and she finally slept her normal amount last night. It was nice to be able to sleep the whole night through again and not be awakened at four or five in the morning!

Sounds like a full, fun trip. It is always fun, but yes, very hard to be away from home with a little one. I love getting back to normal and a blessed full nights sleep. It took Mandy over a week to sleep through the night again after our recent trip. Arg.
What a great time! Home does feel good after a trip, especially with little ones! I'm glad you got to go to the beach! Rachel is always asking to go! Maybe someday...
Ha! Love the picture you took of yourself "sleeping". I know what you mean, though. We have all these adorable pictures of baby with Daddy, and nothing with ourselves!
Too bad we couldn't have gotten a better picture; but I do like how Abby is peeking around at the camera as well...
