We've been enjoying the spring weather and going to parks. In the third picture, Ben had gotten an scrape that needed a band-aid which required us to walk back to the van, and Abby comforted him the whole way there and back to the playground. :)
Family devotion time before bed:
Kevin was napping after working much of the night before, and Jake really wanted to go snuggle with him. He promised to be quiet and not wake up Daddy, so I put him up on the bed next to Kevin. He stayed there quietly for at least twenty minutes, keeping his promise and not bugging Kevin. It was so sweet!
The kids have a playhouse front door (passed on to us from cousin Solomon) that typically goes in a doorway. But one afternoon they put it at one end of the hallway and made an entire house behind it. Below, Ben is inviting me into the house, which even has a paper towel walkway leading up to the entrance. :)

The kids love it when Kevin gives them horsey rides and sometimes they try to do it themselves. But their backs are not nearly strong enough and so they resort to what they call "Worm Rides." :)
We went up to the Puyallup Spring Fair for the second year. Kevin was able to come with us and we had a very fun and lovely day together as a family. Even in the rain. :) Once again, I found myself enjoying the Spring Fair more than the regular fall fair, as it has tons and tons of free activities for the children and it isn't nearly so crowded.
We had a family movie night. The big kids made a fort and watched the movie from there while Daddy and Jake snuggled on the couch, munching on popcorn. The movie was Hachi: A Dog's Tale - a great, clean family movie, but be prepared for a few tears! Some of the themes were a bit deep for our kids, but it opened some good discussions and some of it went right over their heads anyway.
The big kids ready for Inside Out and Backward Night at AWANA!
Jake wanted a picture too. :)
We met up with some friends at a park. They are a new family to our church, and I've been so pleased to see Abby hit it off so quickly and well with one of their kids, Elayna. For quite some time, I'd been hoping Abby would find a good friend and I love how their friendship needed no prodding as they both were drawn to each other from the start!
Kevin and I were able to attend a two-day homeschool conference in the Seattle area. We checked out various curricula in the vendor hall, listened to some very intriguing workshops and were blessed to see so many other Christian homeschooling families from our state. On the second day, we brought Abby with us and she had a lot of fun too and was in awe of the huge church where the conference was held, which she said felt more like an airport when we first walked in. ;o)

And of course, we had many visits from my mom which usually ends up in reading sessions as the kids always bring a pile of books for her to read. :)
So that was a quick overview of April! It's feeling good to get caught up on the blog. :)
