Back to Everyday, Normal Life

Yesterday I was feeling pretty much back to my normal self. As I mentioned, we still have lingering coughs and some runny noses, but other than that everyone seems to be pretty much back to normal. So I decided it was time to tackle Kevin's inbox since the pile was well over a foot high and I couldn't put it off any longer. After weeding through some junk mail and catalogs for him to look at later, this was the stack that awaited me:
Almost none of this is personal mail (that I regularly deal with anyway). But this is what accumulates in two and half weeks when one has three business. It is one of my least favorite tasks that I have to do when Kevin is gone fishing. Actually, pre-kids, I loved being his "secretary," but it's just so hard to do with three kiddos underfoot now that I usually dread the paper work. There were also several calls to make, emails to respond to, filing, banking, and two sets of monthly payroll taxes to do, not to mention figuring out which of three checkbooks to pay each bill with and then updating the correct Quickbooks account. So after the kids went down for their naps, I began to attack the pile and to-do list. An hour and half later when the kids got up, I was far from done, so in went a video for the kids so I could keep plugging away. After awhile, the video ended and I thankfully heard them happily playing down the hallway, so I kept at it. At some point, I wandered out to check on them and was shocked to find this:
Yep, Jacob is on the kitchen counter and spilled baking soda all over! He is not typically a climber like my Ben was at that age, so I was pretty surprised to find him up there. And I was also surprised that his older brother and sister did not come and get me to tell me what was going on. Arg. I guess that's what happens when children are left unattended and *seem* to be happily playing together. Do you see why doing the business paperwork when Kevin is gone is not my favorite task? ;o)
