Friends

This past weekend, Abby was invited to her first birthday party and what a party it was! The party was for Anuhea, a friend from church, who recently turned one-year-old. It was a Hawaiian Luau - complete with orchids fresh from Hawaii, lots of yummy Hawaiian food to try (I could eat Hawaiian food everyday!!), tons of people, and some very appropriate hot sunshine. (Anuhea's mom is from Hawaii and apparently it is tradition there to throw an huge luau for a child's first birthday.)

In addition to the party festivities, Abby got to spend some time with her friend Solomon who is three weeks older than she. Solomon's mommy and I tried to get some pictures of them together, but they just wouldn't look at the cameras and smile no matter what we did (both were a bit tired after not going down for their naps - probably because they didn't want to miss out on the fun party =). Later as I looked through the pictures, they almost seemed to tell a story. If they could talk, maybe this is what Abby and Solomon would have said:

Abby: Hey, I like your shirt!
Solomon: Um, who is this girl again?

Abby: This shirt is awesome! I want it!
Solomon: Whoa! Respect the personal space, please.

Solomon: Hmm, I think I'll grab some of her hair - maybe that will teach her to keep her hands off me.
Abby: Hey, that tickles!

Abby: I can grab hair too!
Solomon: Ah, man. It didn't work.

Solomon: I guess I'll just leave.
Abby: Hey, where do you think you're going?
Solomon: Actually, nowhere...this is as far as I've figured out to move.

Abby: Why do you think they keep sticking those cameras in our faces?
Solomon: I don't know, but I have an idea that might make them stop - why don't you look at my mom and I'll look at your mom?
Abby: Okay, sounds like a plan!

Abby: Maybe we should try singing a duet together.
Solomon: That sounds fun.
Abby: And this time you look at your mom and I'll look at mine.

And so ends the picture taking after the moms gave up trying to get the babes to look the same direction and smile.

Here's a time-waster that I figured out this afternoon:

I've seen several of my friends photoshop their pictures in this manner, so I decided to try my hand at it. I'm not sure if I'm sold on the end product, but it was fun to do....much more fun than the homework I should have been doing.

Very cute. Photoshop is WAY more fun than homework, laundry, dishes, or other housework.

I loved the pictures and the running dialog. It was a kick! Looks like the two friends had fun together. Grandma
