Kid Talk

Some of these are pretty old - probably started last summer or fall. I just haven't been doing a very good job of writing down the kids' cute sayings, so they didn't accumulate very quickly. Sorry!

--------------------

As we were making oatmeal banana pancakes together, Ben asked me what each ingredient was called. When we got to baking powder, I named it and then added, "It helps the pancakes rise." He replied incredulously, "Like how Jesus rose from the dead?"

Ben and Jake were showing a friend of mine all their toys and she said, "Boy, you are lucky to have so many toys!" Jake strongly responded, "I'm not yucky!"

Was about to teach the kids about the seasons and I asked Ben if he could name one of the four seasons. He replied, "Fishing season?" Hahaha! Spoken like a true fisherman's son!

Ben said to me, "You're the best mommy in the whole world!" Moments later, Jake said, "I'm the best Jakey in the whole world!"

As we drove home from church, Jake said, "Look, there's a skid steer!" I love that my even my youngest child knows more types of machinery than I do! Ha!

As I'm driving the van, Jake randomly says to me, "Mama, did you know that mushrooms can't jump?" This boy cracks me up! This morning he asked, "Mama, did you know there aren't stars in our house?" I don't what brought this on, but he often makes these random observations. :)

Jake offered me a cracker from the snack he was having. Glad that he was sharing, I exuberantly said, "Aaaaah! Thank you, Jake, for sharing with me!" He replied, just as exuberantly, "Good job saying, 'thank you,' Mommy! You are such a good mommy!"
I decided to introduce my kids to one of my all-time favorite movies: The Sound of Music. In the opening scene (Maria singing in the mountains), Ben says, "This is boring. Can we skip this part?" Abby says, "I thought Maria was a KID!" "No," I replied, "I said there are kids in it." Jake says, "I want a monster to come and push her into the water."
