Museum of Flight with the Family

Yesterday was a full and fun day for us. We (the Gardner family) traveled up to Seattle where we met my aunt Doris and cousin Paul for lunch as a belated Christmas gathering. After stuffing ourselves with bottomless fries (gotta love Red Robin!), we all drove a few minutes away to the Museum of Flight where our membership will expire next month. The deal my dad and I bought together included 10 guest passes so we were able to get the whole gang in for free. It was lots of fun! The picture below was taken at the top of the stairs overlooking the main gallery filled with dozens and dozens of airplanes - it's always exciting/almost-overwhelming/impressive to come upon the sight.

The three closest men in my life: my brother, dad and husband. Love these guys. :)
Cousin Hannah was a great help with Jake!
My dad (an amateur pilot) and his nephew Paul (an engineer) talked a lot of technical stuff about airplanes and flying that went way over my head! :)

We had a hard time pulling ourselves away from the museum, but we were due back in Olympia at 5pm. So I literally ran from one side of the museum complex (where you can walk through a space shuttle, Nixon's Air Force One plane, a Concord plane and others!), across the highway, through the main museum building and out to the parking lot so I could drive the car around and pick the kids up. I probably looked pretty silly, but it saved us a lot of time (a 1-year-old, 3-year-old and 5-year-old don't move very quickly!). Kevin was feeling worse and worse throughout the day and got a ride home from my brother, but we continued on to our church for a farewell dinner for a dear family who will be leaving us soon to be missionaries in Brazil. The drive from Seattle to Olympia was the best one I'd ever had! We were blessed with a GORGEOUS sunset that was just starting when we left and there were actually still some pink clouds left when we got to Olympia! The boys conked out immediately, but Abby and I enjoyed visiting and pointing to the different colors and "ooohing and aaahing" the whole way. :)
