Museum of Flight

On Saturday, my mom, nephew Stephen, Abby and I went to the Seattle Museum of Flight for free thanks to the Smithsonian Magazine's Museum Day. My other two nephews opted not to go and they sure missed out because we had a lot of fun! We saw TONS of planes, toured an old Concord jet (they flew twice the speed of sound - about 1300 mph!!), got to see an enormous Boeing 747 up close, decided not to wait in the very long line to tour the Air Force One jet from the Eisenhower through Nixon presidencies, got to sit in the cockpits of several planes, toured part of the space station that was in space in 2001, rode in a cool glass elevator (2nd picture below), watched planes take off and land at Boeing Field from a mock control tower, and found out five minutes before the museum closed that there were two more wings to the museum that we hadn't even seen! I was so bummed. We ran through the two areas just to see what all we missed (one was the history of Boeing and flight in the NW and the other was WWI and II). So, we'll just have to go back again someday so I can see the rest! Hopefully, my dad will be able to go with us next time - planes are his thing and he's a pretty awesome tour guide to have along at a place like that!

I'm supposed to be Charles Lindbergh...I don't remember who Abby and Stephen were.

Abby flying solo!

And loving it!

Exhausted from the long day!
